Your cellphone rang and you took no time in grabbing it off the bedside table. Excitement, longing, fear, almost every emotion bubbled in you as your fingers reached for the little piece of technology.
“Hello?” You said softly, your voice was hoarse from the occasional sobbing that took place, alone in your home.
“_______?” A familiar voice responded, making a small smile spread across your face, and a sigh of relief escape your lips.
“Hey Alfred.” You said, tucking a lock of (h/c) behind your ear. It wasn’t that you were sad that your boyfriend was calling you. In fact it was quite the opposite, since you only heard from him once or twice a month. He was in the army, traveling from base to base, fighting whoever he was told to fight. Alfred had told you that he would be home soon, but that was almost a year ago and, you know it sounded selfish, but you felt neglected and wanted him to come home.
“Baby, what’s wrong? You don’t sound like your usual self.” He asked, voice full of concern. God, you felt so bad for having this attitude towards him, but you needed to tell him.
“It’s just...” You sighed, took in a deep breath and started over, “It’s just I don’t know where you’re going or when you’re coming home. And Al, I know I sound self absorbed, but I want you to come home, I need you Alfred.” You tried to keep your voice even, but a few tears trickled down your cheek.
“I’m sorry, ______. I’m trying to get out of here as soon as possible, but there’s a lack of soldiers and I can’t bail out right now. Plus, we both knew this type of life didn’t come with instructions, so I’m trying to do my best to make something out of nothing. Sometimes it gets downright shitty in fact. The times when you call me, I don’t even know what city I’m at, or even what day of the week it is. It could be like the middle of the month and then it’ll be a year, and I won’t remember any of it. I know the last time I called, I said I wouldn’t be long, but that was last November, and hell! Now December’s almost gone. I’m apologizing, but I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong. And I’m trying to get back to you, baby, I promise I’ll keep trying until I’ll be able to see your face again. I miss you more than you know, ______.”
Your face was almost completely wet with all the tears that fell. Alfred was right, he didn’t do anything wrong and you felt so awful to make him think that he did. You understood his position, though you really didn’t want to and you sighed, with a small hiccup to follow.
“I-I know, your right. You don’t have to apologize, it’s not you. I just can’t seem to live so long without seeing you or hearing from you.” You laughed slightly, “Well, whenever you decide to come home, I left the keys under the mat to our front door. Just for one more chance to hold you. I’ll just keep myself busy with work until you come home, I suppose” Alfred chuckled, the most enchanting sound to your ears. He almost sounded relieved, as if he thought you were going to leave him.
“Thanks for understanding, babe. You’ve been nothing but amazing, and I’ve never taken that for granted. The fact that you’ve stood beside me every time you heard some crap, you deserve a standing ovation because I just don’t know anyone else could take in all this.” He said, gratefully. You smiled and unconsciously twirled your hair.
“No one can hold me down like you do, sweetheart. You keep doing that, I keep doing this. We’ll be alright, trust that. I mean, we put the us in trust, baby.” Alfred joked, more cheerful than before. You laughed.
“I don’t care what you’re after, and I don’t care why you’re leaving, as long as you miss me when you’re gone.” You said, trying to reassure him that you weren’t mad anymore. “Just get your ass back home, hero.” You joked back, making him laugh hysterically.
“I have to go babe, but I promise, I’ll see you in a bit. Don’t give up, I swear I’ll come home as soon as possible.”
“I love you, Alfred. Don’t forget that.” You said, letting each and every tear fall to the floor, leaving little dark spots where it hit.
“I love you too, babe. Bye.” He hung up and you threw the phone on the bed, putting your head in the pillow and sobbing again.
Time Skip (two months)...
You were outside, taking a walk on the summer day. You hadn’t heard from Alfred for two months, but you promised him you wouldn’t give up hope. You watched as a black and red motorcycle drove past, one much like Alfred’s, but you knew it couldn’t be him. As you kept walking, two hands rested on either of your shoulder and you whirled around to be met with a stunning crooked smile.
“Alfred!” You yelled, and practically jumped on him for a hug. He laughed, twirled you around, lifting you off the ground. His head in the crook of your neck, taking in your familiar sweet scent. You kissed him multiple times, tears streaming down your eyes, smiling with joy. He hugged once more and whispered in your ear.
“I’m home, baby.”

Dance. - America x Reader.
Alfred could not help but laugh at your reply as he walked up to the table. "Hey ladies. I know this is off the wall crazy, but would you be willing to be our dates for the night?" he flashed his bright smile and held out his hand.
You looked up at the well dressed man standing next to you and flushed. He was handsome in every way possible.
You studied him just a little bit more before turning to see your friend giggling and laughing with another man, possibly his company. You face palm before shaking your head slightly.

"Hey [Name]! What are you up to?"
You let out a breath you didn't know you had been holding. "Jeez Al...you really scared me there..."
He laughed, the sound running through your body. "Am I really that terrifying?"
Shaking your head with laugh, you sensed one of your old friends. Turning around to spot him, you kneeled down at petted him excitedly.
"How've you been Shadow?" you asked, happiness evident on your features.
Shadow gave one loud bark in confirmation and nuzzled into your palm. You laughed at his playfulness.

Just a trip to the beach AmericaxReader
"Catch up slowpoke!!" You giggled, kicking sand up as you sprinted along the shore. You were at the beach with your best friend, Alfred F. Jones, and you were having the time of your life! Well, to be honest, you kinda had a humongous crush on him since the first day you two met

ANYWHO, you were running across the (for some reason) deserted beach when suddenly two large arms wrapped around your waist and lifted you high into the air.
"Gotcha! Geez _______, you could at least put up SOME sort of a challenge" Alfred said flashing his infamous goofy smile.
"Ack! A-Alfred! Put me down!" you squealed, squirming in his arms.
