You inhaled the strong lavender scent of soft quilts and pillows, not quite sure where you were.  That’s strange, I don’t recall having a bed. Let alone lavender scented quilts.....and then you remembered what happened.  Your (e/c) eyes snapped open, and you sat upright, only to be responded by a sharp pain your shoulder, causing you to wince.
“Don’t stress yourself, dear.  You took quite a hit.” A woman’s voice warned, gently pushing you back on the bed by your good shoulder.  You shifted your head to look at, what you suspected, was a nurse.  The lady was middle-aged, slightly plump with her tied in a peppery bun.  Her face had wrinkles, but they seemed to be in all the right places, suiting her nicely.  All in all, she reminded you of the sweet, aging mother that you’d never known.
“Do you remember what happened?” The nurse asked slowly, as if you were but a toddler. You nodded, recalling how you’d shoved the newly crowned queen of England.
.
.
.
Oh shit.
“Is her Majesty alright?! I didn’t mean to shove her so hard! I just saw the man and where his gun was pointing, and I panicked...I-”
“I can assure you, the queen in alive and well, thanks to you.” A new voice interrupted.  Both you and the nurse turned your heads towards the door, and you almost gaped as Queen Victoria herself stood in the doorway.  Her voice was raspy and stern, but also kind and wise, as if she’d been around for much longer than the pickpocket had, which was most likely the case.
“M-my queen.  I-I’m so sorry that I-”
“My child, you pushed me out of harms way…. for that you are sorry?”
“No!” You quickly said, surprising both the nurse and queen.  “I-I mean….ugh.” You really couldn’t find the words to explain, on top of that your head was throbbing for some reason.
“You should rest, dear.  You’re turning pale.” The nurse said, giving small worried glances towards the Queen Victoria who instantly took the hint.
“Yes.  I’m sure your parents must be worried sick about you.” She remarked, before turning around to leave.
“I don’t have any parents, Your Grace.” You stuttered slowly, causing the queen to turn around.
“Well then your husband-”
“I’m not married either.” At that, Queen Victoria stared incredulously at the you.
“You tend to your siblings and house all by yourself?” You cleared your throat, hoping that the conversation wouldn’t come to this.
“I don’t have any siblings…...nor a home” You replied truthfully, ignoring the pitiful glance that the nurse was giving you.  Before the queen could reply, another person walked into the room.  You recognized him as the Head of the Queen’s Guards and police department, or Arthur Kirkland.  Okay, so you had to admit to yourself that the man was gorgeous to say the least, but no one could deny that statement when they looked in those shining jade eyes.  He was still wearing the navy blue suit that you’d noticed earlier, but without the medals and decorative sword.  Arthur bowed automatically to the queen and whispered something quietly to her.  It was a few moments before his eyes flickered to you, giving you a cold, disapproving glare that kind of made you want to hide under the covers. But Queen Victoria finally addressed you, breaking you from his intense gaze, while ordering the nurse to go fetch some clothes from the maids.
“Arthur tells me that you are a pickpocket, is that true?” The queen asked sternly.  You gulped, while nervously pushing back a lock of (h/c) hair.  They must have found all those coins in your coat pocket.  Speaking of which, when did they change you into a sleeping gown?
“Y-yes, Your Majesty.”
“And who do you steal from?”
“Only th-the rich, Your Grace.”
“What do you do with the money?”
“I spend some on a loaf of bread for myself, once a week, while giving the rest to some of the poor children that live on the streets as well.” You weren’t lying, lying would be pointless.  Besides you had too much respect for the queen.  Arthur gave you a blatant ‘You really want me to believe that bullshit?’ look, while Her Majesty looked convinced and maybe a little moved.  But she simply held her head high, and gave a small hum of understanding, before turning towards the door once again.
“I’ve sent the maids to prepare a bedroom for you, which Arthur will take you to.” The Brit gave her a priceless look of surprise, “All of your crimes in the past have been wiped clean, and you will be living in the palace from now on.” She paused for a moment, letting you soak in her words, “But there is something I ask of you.  Seeing as you were the sole person that seemed to notice the gun and had the fastest reflexes to reach me, I think you’d make a rather good bodyguard.  Woman or not.  You will train with Arthur starting next week.  Is that understood?”
“Your Majesty-” Arthur started, but she simply hushed him.
“Is that understood?” The queen repeated a little more harshly, causing you to be jolted out of your shocked state.
“Y-yes, Your Grace.  Thank you….th-thank you so much.” You whispered, and watched the queen gracefully walk out of the bedroom, leaving you alone with the Head of Guards and Police.  He sighed, and then gave another cold glare your way.
“Well? Get up.  You got shot in the arm, your legs work fine.” He hissed under his breath and stormed out of the room, not even waiting for you to get out of the bed.
“O-okay.” Was all you could say before following him.  It was hard to keep up with his long fluid strides, and you seemed to be a little wobbly as if you hadn’t walked for days.  Finally, after climbing what felt like four different flights of stairs, they reached a large, ivory double door with gold outlined around the edges.
“Supper is in three hours, don’t be late.” He growled, and pivoted smoothly to walk off.
“Your Grace.” You called out, causing the man to stop, but not turn around.
“If I recall correctly, you were the one that caught me before I collapsed in front of Westminster Abbey.  I just wanted to express my gratitude-” You were interrupted when Arthur turned around again and sneered at you.
“Don’t think for a moment that you have become someone important just because you’re living in the palace.  You’re still nothing, but a worthless commoner and don’t dare forget it.  If you want to express your gratitude towards me, then go where you belong….the dungeons.” The Brit spat, and stormed off yet again, leaving you stunned, speechless, confused, and a little bit hurt.

Time Skip…

You’d just gotten used to the king sized four post bed and mahogany wardrobe filled with colorful gowns that would have made any noble’s daughter jealous.  The walls were covered in a beige and gold floral wallpaper that made the room have a warming feeling.  The fireplace was a shining marble that had been carved with intricate designs, and even the bed was decorated with a gleaming baby blue comforter.  It was beautiful to say the least, but you were still shocked about the whole day.

You was being hired as a bodyguard.

On one hand you was honored to serve in the name of the queen, but on the other....Arthur. Okay, maybe he had a right to dislike you slightly (after all you were a pickpocket), but his lash out seemed a little extreme.  You were almost certain that he was going to stab you during your first minute of training, but a knock came at your door before your thoughts could proceed any further.
"Come in." You called from your spot on the bed. One of the doors opened ever so slightly and a girl maybe fourteen years or so slipped through, and automatically curtsied.
“M’lady, Her Grace sent me to tell you that you will stay in your chambers and rest. Supper will be brought to you. In the meantime, she encourages you to enjoy the new luxuries of this room." She recited in a shakey french accent, keeping her head down, and not making eye contact with anything but the carpet. You thought this a bit curious, but simply nodded.
"Thank you....."
"Oh! My apologies! Sophie." The girl replied, though she seemed a little surprised that someone asked for her for her name.
"Sophie." You whispered to yourself, and then smiled at the servant, "That's a lovely name." Sophie giggled, and curtsied again.
"Thank you, M'l-"
"Ah ah, if I call you by your name, you shall call me by mine."
“I don't think I'm allowed to do that, miss."
“Only in private then.  It’ll be our little secret.” Sophie smiled a little wider.
“Alright-”
“_______” You said, holding the smile on your face.  The girl nodded in understanding, and curtsied before turning around to leave.
“Oh, I almost forgot, would you like me to prepare a bath for you, M-_______?” She quickly corrected herself.  You almost jumped with joy and the sound of a bath.  You were poor, but even a person living in poverty can tell when they have become incredibly filthy.  You’d passed that line about a week ago.
“That would be lovely, thank you.” You replied, and watched as Sophie made her way to the bathroom. After a few minutes the maid game back out and bowed again.
"Your bath is ready, I'll go and get you a night gown." She said and then walked out the door, closing it behind her.
I changed it from third person to second person, I'm well aware.  I also know that this chapter was absurdly boring and pointless, but I promise the next one will have a little more Arthur, reader stuff going on.  Also, I think that I just haven't had much motivation, and specially with work piling on top of you, it's hard to do stuff.  The bath was a really weird place to end, but oh well.....

I don't own hetalia, or pic, or you

Also, I kind of want to expand my horizons by not just writing hetalia reader inserts.....so I might do something on Black Butler, but it kind of depends

Oh and here's the next chapter: sunnyh625.deviantart.com/art/S…
